Guitar Classes

  • My guitar lessons are based around my own methodology that utilises the Kodály movable-do system.
  • Group 1 is aimed at absolute beginners of the approximate age of 6 – 8.
  • Progression is provided through stages 2, 3, 4 etc…
  • Participants will require 3/4 sized classical guitar, a guitarists footstool and a music stand for practicing at home.
  • I will supply the written materials.

*Links provided are just my recommendations and bargains can be found online (Facebook Marketplace, Ebay and Gumtree)… 2nd-hand guitars can be bought locally and cheaply for much less… Try and get something that at least stays in-tune and makes a decent sound though!

Musicianship Classes

  • Young children learn musical skills through songs, games and movement.
  • I use the Kodály “movable-do” system as well as rhythm syllables and stick notation to teach fundamental listening and reading skills as early as possible.
  • We cover songs from the Colourstrings “Singing Rascals” books, which are used in many of the Colourstrings instrumental tuition books.
  • There are props and toys and musical instruments.
  • I also provide parents with guidance on how to raise musical children in the sessions (as much as time allows).
  • Parents accompany their child/children and full participation is necessary.
